Originally, the Team had the interesting idea to add a server acronym to the end of every character that would have a name conflict when the server merges occurred. In this way, when the characters were merged, they would be given name change tickets and, essentially, the fastest name changer would win the day. Unfortunately, many players have voiced their opinions on this matter, most notably being the fact that players have been making low level alternate characters to poach the names of players they do not like, thereby forcing the player to change their name when the servers merge (and in the worst case scenario, discovering that the lower level alternate character had already claimed it).
