It is hard not to question the sanity of said sponsors though. In the current period of making Atlantica Gold, how exactly do you determine the talent of new teams to the point where you might deem them sponsor worthy? You either take a risk in the unknown, or you pick up a team that might be between sponsors that has proven their talent and worth various times before. Ratings, while never really the most effective means of determining skill.
For some time, there was reason to believe that some tournaments were not even going to happen (and no, they were not rumors). Based on messages directly from various sponsor leaders and players, there was reason actual evidence of a lot of doubt surrounding Blizzard coming through with a TR. It honestly does not matter anymore at this point whether they do or not. If they do, what will they do about the ridiculous exploits or bugs on various maps? Live tournaments might be able to outlaw certain actions, such as breaking over the gate on RoV, or sapping before it drops.
